Killeen police caught a 30-year-old Temple tire shop owner stealing tires from Discount Tire Tuesday.

Don Anton Jayamaha was arrested Tuesday on a charge of burglary of a building.

A Killeen police officer saw two men loading tires onto a trailer behind Discount Tire around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The officer stopped the vehicle as it escaped from the 3100 block of East Central Texas Expressway.

The driver, Jayamaha, was arrested, according to an arrest affidavit.

Jayamaha is listed as the owner of Town and Country Tires in Cameron and formerly of Payless Tires in Temple, according to the Texas comptroller's Web site.

Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin set bond Wednesday at $50,000. Jayamaha also was booked into Bell County Jail on a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon by a felon and issuing a bad check.

Other crime reported:

A forgery was reported in the 600 block of Indian Trail in Harker Heights at 8:36 p.m. Sunday. A counterfeit $100 bill was presented to a fast food restaurant.

An aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 1600 block of West Highway 190 in Copperas Cove at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday.

Approximately $2,300 in cash was taken from the 900 block of Whirlaway Drive in Copperas Cove at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday.
